About Young Men Network
Founded in 2012, the Young Men Foundation Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence was initiated as a platform to enable young male leaders to challenge cultural perceptions and stereotypes that fuels gender-based violence (especially with sexual related violent) and oppression against women and girls while influencing attitudes and behaviours in their various communities as change agents.
The network programs include using traditional and new media to reach out to young people and have conversations around sexual and gender-based violence, ongoing advocacy to support relevant policy changes as well as building capacity of its members and other stakeholders to act as champions in their communities.
Our work cuts across the socio-cultural, economic and religious statuses of young men aiming to achieve one goal: which is to end gender-based violence in all of its forms in Nigeria and by extension, Africa.
We have an active membership of about 500 young men in 16 States in Nigeria young men from universities, young professionals and young men who run different organizations across the country and each state has at least 35 members. The network is coordinated at the centre by the National Coordinator and State Coordinators at the state chapter.
